Solicitation for Proposals: Workforce Partner Innovation Grants |
The Greater Des Moines Partnership, Des Moines Area Community College, Iowa Works, United Way of Central Iowa, and ISED Ventures/Annie E. Casey Foundation have partnered to develop Central Iowa Works.
This
comprehensive workforce system is working to alleviate the worker and skills
shortage in central Iowa in industry segments identified in the chart below.
These eight industry sectors have high growth, high demand and high economic
impact on the region.
Sector boards have been meeting since Fall 2007 to map career pathways within their sectors to better define the careers potential within their industry.
Current Sector Boards are:
In addition to career pathways maps, business leaders on each Sector Board along with representatives from education and community based organizations are developing strategies to:
- identify untapped labor pools
- better align training programs with business needs, and
- establish a Career Readiness Certificate to facilitate hiring.
